Trump’s Quick Win Has Crushed Market Volatility For Now
Donald Trump’s swift victory in the presidential election took out the major source of uncertainty in the stock market.
The CBOE Volatility Index, also known as the VIX, is called the fear gauge of the market because it measures how much prices are jumping around. The VIX stood at 15.58 early on Thursday, dropping around another 4% from the previous day when it fell from above 20.
The remaining uncertainty around who will control the House of Representatives or what Trump’s election means for the Fed doesn’t look to be enough to spook the market, compared with the rapid settlement of the election.
