US Stock Market: Nasdaq crashes 497 pts, Dow gives up 650 pts; NVIDIA falls to $114

US Stock Market Today, Dow Jones, S&P 500, Nasdaq: Wall Street shares fell on Monday—with the S&P taking its worst single-day hit in two-and-a-half months—after US President Donald Trump announced the onset of 25 per cent tariffs on Canada and Mexico while a slide in a monthly manufacturing PMI reading also hurt investor sentiment. Uncertainty surrounding the global trade situation has kept investors on their toes for the past few weeks given the aggressive stance of 47^th US President on the matter.

Among index heavyweights, NVIDIA plunged by $10.9, or 8.7 per cent, to settle at $114.1 apiece. Apple shares declined 1.6 per cent to close at $238 apiece.

At the end of the session, here’s where the three main gauges stood:

• DJIA: down 649.7 points, or 1.5 per cent, at 43,191.2
• S&P 500: down 104.8 points, or 1.8 per cent, at 5,849.7
• Nasdaq: down 497.1 points, or 2.6 per cent, at 18,350.2
