When will Social Security payments arrive in November 2025? See schedule
Most people who receive Social Security retirement benefits will see their monthly payments in November 2025 as usual — with checks and direct deposits distributed according to the Social Security Administration’s standard schedule.
However, some confusion has surfaced as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will not receive a payment during the month of November. While SSI and Social Security are separate programs, about half of SSI recipients also receive Social Security, which is why the distinction matters.
Social Security retirement payment dates for November 2025
If you receive regular Social Security benefits (not SSI), your payment will arrive on one of the following dates, based on your birthdate and when you first began collecting benefits:

If you receive regular Social Security (retirement or SSDI), your payment will still arrive in November. Those payments follow a separate schedule, based on your birth date or the date you first started receiving benefits:
-
Nov. 3 – People who began receiving benefits before May 1997
-
Nov. 12 – Birthdates between the 1st and 10th
-
Nov. 19 – Birthdates between the 11th and 20th
-
Nov. 26 – Birthdates between the 21st and 31st

Why some people won’t receive a payment in November
People who receive only SSI benefits will not receive a payment in November because their usual deposit date — the 1st of the month — falls on a Saturday.. As a result, the Social Security Administration issues payments early. Those payments will be issued on Friday, Oct. 31, making it appear as though there’s no November payment — but recipients still receive 12 total payments in the year.

This is standard SSA policy: when the 1st falls on a weekend or federal holiday, SSI payments are made on the preceding business day.
How does the ongoing shutdown impact Social Security?
The shutdown began on Oct. 1 and as a result hundreds of thousands of federal employees have been furloughed, including many at the SSA. As a result, some Social Security services are currently limited.
Social Security benefits, however, will not be interrupted during a government shutdown despite the lapse in federal funding appropriations. These benefit programs are considered mandatory spending by law, and are not dependent on congressional approval, so they are not impacted by the lapse in funding appropriations. Payments are still distributed on a regular schedule during the shutdown.
