When are Social Security and SSI benefits paid out in November 2026? Complete payment schedule
Per the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) schedule for 2026, the agency is about to complete the second of five payment runs for November, as it issues benefits for the following programs in the U.S.:
Who has already been paid for November 2026?
- October 30: SSI beneficiaries
Beneficiaries of the SSI program were actually paid their November money slightly before the month began: on Friday, October 30.
A benefit for low-income people who are over 65 or have a disability, SSI is typically issued on the first of each month, but was paid early as November 1 was a Sunday.
The scheme, which has just over 7.3 million recipients nationwide, offers an average monthly benefit of $735.86, according to the SSA’s latest statistics.
Although SSI is run by the SSA, it is separate to the Social Security program. Unlike Social Security, eligibility is not dependent on a claimant’s employment history.
Who does the SSA pay next in November 2026?
- November 3: Dual beneficiaries/some long-term Social Security beneficiaries
On Tuesday, November 3, the SSA is to distribute the latest monthly Social Security benefits to recipients who began claiming their payments before May 1997.
November 3 is also this month’s Social Security payment date for beneficiaries who concurrently claim SSI.

When does November 2026’s three-Wednesdays cycle begin?
Of the 71.6 million recipients of Social Security benefits, the majority are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month. These recipients’ designated Wednesday depends on their date of birth.
However, this month’s three-Wednesdays cycle comes with a calendar quirk. Because of the Veterans Day holiday, the first of these distribution dates has been pushed forward by 24 hours, to Tuesday, November 10.
November’s full three-Wednesdays cycle is:
- Born on 1st-10th of any month: Social Security paid on Tuesday, November 10
- Born on 11th-20th of any month: Social Security paid on Wednesday, November 18
- Born on 21st-31st of any month: Social Security paid on Wednesday, November 25
NB: If you receive Social Security benefits based on someone else’s work record, the SSA uses the other person’s birthday to decide your payment Wednesday.
How much are Social Security benefits each month?
- Retirement: $2,034.54
- Disability: $1,499.41
- Survivor: $1,636.31
(Average benefit, per figures shared by the SSA.)

Benefit amounts to go up in 2027
In mid-October, the SSA revealed that Social Security and SSI beneficiaries are to receive a pay rise next year, as part of the agency’s annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). Starting with January’s benefits, 76 million recipients are to get a 3.6% increase in their monthly check.
How does the Social Security Admin pay out monthly benefits?
- Money can be paid into a Social Security or SSI beneficiary’s bank account by direct deposit
- Benefits can be loaded onto the Direct Express Card, a debit card for federal disbursements
