US stocks plunged on after President Donald Trump confirmed that steep tariffs on Canada and Mexico would take effect as scheduled, stoking fears of escalating trade tensions and economic uncertainty.

IT stocks such as Coforge Ltd, Mphasis, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, HCL Technologies, Persistent Systems, BirlaSoft, Tech Mahindra and LTIMindtree slipped up to 4% on Tuesday after Trump administration’s 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada came into effect from today, with China facing an additional 10% tariff on the same date. China is already facing 10% tariff on export of goods to US.
Deciml, a micro-investing platform that helps users invest spare change from everyday transactions, has raised $3 million in seed funding from Jainam Broking Limited. This marks Jainam’s first investment in a startup, bringing its financial expertise to Deciml’s growing business.
Deciml is the only app in India that enables round-up investments in Mutual Funds.
The technology stocks are under pressure in trade today. Taking cues from the US market rout overnight, the Nifty IT declined as much as 2.17% to the 36,797.40 level. The IT stocks were among the top Index losers as well with Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies seeing the maximum damage.
