NEW YORK — U.S. stocks on Tuesday pulled closer to their records as the wait continued for more updates on President Trump’s tariffs and how much they’re affecting the economy.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 0.6%, coming off a modest gain the day before that added to its stellar May.

As of the first quarter, more than 5,400 companies were listed on the New York Stock Exchange (a subsidiary of Intercontinental Exchange) and the Nasdaq Stock Market. Many of those companies are grouped into various indexes that measure different aspects of the overall stock market.

Indian benchmark indices are set to open higher on Wednesday amid positive cues from the global market. However, gains are likely to remain capped amid the rising volatility and tariff concerns.
