US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has warned of potential dire consequences for countries with economic ties to Iran.
“Every country has a defined timeline to shut down activities we have identified. If they do not take action, we will do so unilaterally through Treasury authorities,” Bessent said at a news conference.

Iraq’s oil business has always been in the shadow of fellow OPEC member Saudi Arabia, an organization it helped co-found at the Baghdad Conference in 1960. It now wants to come out of the shadows. Iraq recently sent a delegation to Saudi Arabia seeking a higher output quota from OPEC. It has previously warned that it could follow the UAE’s lead and leave OPEC if it can’t raise its output.

“The United States is giving serious consideration to changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America in that we don’t expect to doing much business with Ontario any longer,” Trump said Tuesday on social media.
Ontario is Canada’s most populous province and is home to the country’s auto industry.

For millions of Americans, reaching Social Security’s full retirement age is
already a long wait. Elizabeth Warren is warning that pushing that age higher
could cost some retirees about $24,000 in benefits.
She made the case during a Senate hearing in March 2026 and said the proposal
could work out to roughly a 7% cut.
