ETFs had a banner year in 2024, breaking records with global assets surpassing $15 trillion, according to a recent Bank of America report.

And U.S.-listed ETFs attracted an all-time high of $1.15 trillion in assets last year, the latest ETF Flash Flows report from State Street Global Advisors indicated.

The overall feeling in the market was positive from the close of October 2024 until the beginning of this year. Last month, Bitcoin (BTC) rose above its all-time high and surpassed the 100K mark.

US stocks surged higher Wednesday after an encouraging inflation report and blockbuster profits for some of America’s biggest banks.

The Dow surged 703 points, or 1.65%, to close at 43,222. The S&P 500 rose 1.83% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite ended the day higher by 2.45%.

• American investment banks disclosed a record-smashing quarter, helped by surging trading activity around the U.S. election and a pickup in investment banking deal flow.
• JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley easily topped estimates for the fourth quarter.
• And deal activity is only picking up steam, according to bank executives.

We are just a few days away from the start of the new Trump Administration. And as the president-elect has made abundantly clear, one of the first items on his agenda will be slapping new tariffs on imports from China.
