TOKYO :Japanese trading house Itochu posted on Wednesday a 500.3 billion yen ($3.32 billion) net profit in the six months ended September, up 14 per cent from the same period a year ago.
Itochu, active in everything from commodities trading to food businesses, kept its net profit forecast for the full fiscal year unchanged at 900 billion yen.

BANGKOK (AP) — Tokyo’s benchmark Nikkei 225 index tumbled more than 4% on Wednesday and other shares in Asia also sank after a retreat on Wall Street spurred by selling of Big Tech shares.
U.S. futures were slightly lower and oil prices also fell.
The Nikkei was trading down 4.7% at 49,104.05 by midday.

International markets plunged Tuesday night as stocks across the Asia-Pacific region sold off on worries about the sky-high values of artificial intelligence and tech companies.
The Kospi stock index in South Korea plunged more than 6%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 average slid about 4.5%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index tumbled more than 1%.

Voters on Tuesday were favoring a ballot measure to allow the state to invest money from Washington’s long-term care program in the stock market.
Senate Joint Resolution 8201, to allow the investment was passing with 57.3% in Tuesday night’s vote count.
Voters were asked to amend the state constitution to allow the Washington State Investment Board to invest money from the WA Cares Fund into high-return investments like stocks and private equity.
