The Supreme Court Didn't Fully End the Trade War, but It Reinforced Limits on the Presidency
Given President Donald Trump’s petulant response to Friday’s Supreme Court decision barring his use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose tariffs, the White House’s unilateral trade war against Americans (and the rest of the world) is not yet over. Temporary new tariffs imposed under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 seem designed as much to flip the bird to the high court’s majority as to maintain the administration’s protectionist policies.
