In the past five sessions, these ETFs have seen gains between 5 per cent and 50 per cent. Notably, such double digit gains are surprising for ETFs in such a short span of time. However, most of these gains came on September 7, when the US stock markets were closed for the Labor Day public holiday.
Passive funds comprise exchange-traded funds (ETFs), index funds and fund of funds (FoFs). ETFs accounted for the bulk of inflows in August at Rs 10,161 crore, while index funds saw inflows of Rs 787 crore. FoFs recorded an outflow of Rs 72 crore.

Net inflows into equity mutual funds saw a nearly 19% jump to Rs 29,329 crore in August 2026 from Rs 24,697 crore in July 2026, according to the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI).
Small-cap funds continued to attract the most money, while mid-cap and multi-cap funds also saw higher inflows.
Mid-cap funds followed with inflows of Rs 6,989 crore, while flexi-cap funds received Rs 5,059 crore during the month. Small-cap inflows were at their highest level in at least two years, while mid-cap inflows reached a level that was at least a one-year high.
