Even though this year’s Fourth of July is on a Saturday, it will be celebrated on July 3 by the federal government and much of the country.
The New York Stock Exchange honors 10 U.S. holidays that alter its traditional hours of operation.

Are markets open on July 4, 2026?
The NYSE and Nasdaq are open traditionally for trading from 8:30 CT to 4 p.m. on Monday through Friday. The two markets will observe the Fourth of July on Friday, July 3, 2026, and close all stock market trading.
The markets are routinely closed on weekends and the 10 federal holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day (NYSE calls it Washington’s Birthday), Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Cryptocurrency markets, however, remain open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Trading crypto exchanges like Ethereum and Bitcoin will be available on Fourth of July.
