[Big Losses in CFD] My New Strategy After Constant Defeat! Can I Recover My Losses by Buying the Dip in Gold and Silver?
[New Strategy for CFD Investing] Why I, Who Cannot Win at Short-Term Trading, Started Buying the Dip in Gold and Silver
Around September 10, 2026
I am currently managing my assets with a focus on stock investments, aiming to grow my initial capital of 7.5 million yen into 100 million yen.
At the same time, I am also challenging myself with CFD trading, aiming for short-term profits.
However, my CFD trading so far has not yielded the results I had hoped for.
Therefore, this time, I have decided to start a new strategy of buying the dip in gold and silver.
This is a new challenge, slightly different from my previous investment methods.
1. Short-term trend investing is not producing results
What I have been doing with CFDs until now is short-term investing, buying and selling according to trends.
If I think the price will rise, I go long (buy).
If I think it will fall, I go short (sell).
It is a method of aiming for profits by repeating short-term trades while reading the flow of the market.
However, when I actually tried it, it proved to be quite difficult.
If I buy expecting a rise, it falls; if I sell expecting a fall, it rises.
I repeated such trades, and my losses piled up.
I intended to capture trends and make a profit, but instead, I ended up increasing my losses.
This is the reality of my current CFD investing.
2. Started a new strategy of buying the dip in gold and silver
That is why I came up with the strategy of buying the dip in gold and silver.
I believe that inflation may continue in the future, and in the long run, the prices of gold and silver may rise.
Of course, there is no guarantee that it will definitely rise.
Even so, rather than predicting short-term price movements and trading repeatedly, I wanted to try a method of purchasing assets that I believe have potential for medium- to long-term growth when their prices drop.
Buying the dip is an investment method where you purchase an asset you expect to rise when its price temporarily falls.
The targets this time are gold and silver.
The strategy is to use CFDs to apply leverage and hold long positions.
3. Moving to a Dual Approach of Short-term and Medium-term Investment
With this change in strategy, my CFD investment will now consist of two parts.
1. Short-term trend investment
As before, this is a method of repeating short-term trades in line with the upward and downward trends of the market.
2. Medium-term dip-buying investment in gold and silver
This is a method of purchasing gold and silver when their prices temporarily fall and aiming for a subsequent rise.
I am not completely giving up on short-term investment.
I will continue with my previous methods while verifying this new strategy in parallel.
However, the approach to trading and risk management differs between short-term and medium-term investments.
I believe I need to be mindful of that point as I proceed.
4. Normally, I would invest via ETFs, but…
If I were aiming for medium- to long-term price increases in gold or silver, I think the natural way would be to purchase ETFs or similar instruments.
If I held them without leverage, it would be easier to manage my funds compared to CFDs.
However, I have decided to invest using CFDs this time.
The reason is that I want to recover the losses incurred from my previous CFD trading.
Since my results so far have not been good, I want to change the situation somehow.
That thought became the catalyst for trying a new investment method.
However, using leverage out of a desire to recover losses also carries risks.
While it has the potential to increase profits, it also increases losses if the market moves against your expectations.
Especially with medium-term holdings, one must be careful about significant drops along the way and holding costs.
5. Can I recover my CFD losses with this strategy?
To be honest, I don’t know if this strategy will work.
Even if I expect gold and silver to rise in the long term, there is a possibility of significant drops along the way.
Furthermore, it is possible that the price could drop even further from the point where I bought, thinking it was a dip.
If that happens, instead of recovering my losses, I will only increase them further.
Also, because I am using leverage in CFD, there is a risk of being forced into a stop-loss due to a drop along the way, even if I intend to wait for a long-term rise.
Therefore, with this strategy, I need to proceed while checking the holding quantity, margin, and acceptable losses, rather than just believing in a price increase and holding.
I want to make sure that this challenge to recover my losses does not lead to even bigger losses.
6. Summary | A challenge to change the current situation that isn’t working
In my CFD trading so far, I have focused on short-term trend investing.
However, I haven’t been able to get results, and my losses are piling up.
So, this time, I have decided to start a new strategy of buying the dips in gold and silver.
While continuing short-term trading, I will aim for medium-term price increases for gold and silver.
This is my new CFD investment policy.
Of course, I don’t know if this method is the right answer.
However, it is certain that my current approach is not working.
That is precisely why I want to change something.
Whether this new strategy will succeed or lead to another failure remains to be seen.
I plan to continue sharing my actual trading results on NOTE.
The challenge to reach 100 million yen in assets is still ongoing!

*CFD trading can lead to rapid loss expansion due to leverage. When holding positions for the medium term, it is also necessary to pay attention to margin maintenance ratios and holding costs.
