Bloom Energy (NYSE:BE) shares are up 142.5% year to date. That run is substantial enough that Roth Capital raised its price target from $225 to $260 this week while maintaining its Neutral rating. Shares fell in the Oct. 14 session and closed at $239.34. Premarket trading Thursday showed shares at $227.78, down another 4.8%. So how much growth does the current price already reflect?
What Oracle and Roth Capital Said
On Oct. 13, Oracle (NYSE:ORCL) confirmed Bloom as the primary power source for Project Jupiter, its AI campus in Doña Ana County, New Mexico. Oracle said in April that Bloom fuel cells are expected to supply up to 2.45 gigawatts there. The installation is actively underway. Oracle also proposed an energy service agreement with El Paso Electric and bill credits for residential and small business customers of up to $55 million annually for up to three years. Neither company provided contract value or revenue timing for Bloom. (Bloom is one of several non-chip names gaining from the AI data-center expansion. We highlighted seven of these power, cooling, and networking suppliers in a free report here.)

Roth Capital summed up the tension: “Bloom Energy’s current positioning and commercial momentum are unique in the company’s history, but forward expectations factor in very large order flow and incremental capacity growth in future years.” The firm said valuation and the company’s lack of transparency keep it on the sidelines. Roth Capital’s $260 target is above the current price, and the firm still rates the stock a Hold.
Why Shares Fell on Good News
A hotter-than-expected September inflation report drove Treasury yields higher and hit high-multiple, rate-sensitive stocks across the market. Bloom’s beta of 3.78 means its price moves are much larger than the broader market’s. The stock is down 15.6% in a week.
Valuation Leaves Little Room
The consensus analyst target of $283.01 is above today’s price. Analyst sentiment shows a wide split, with Hold ratings as the largest group. A separate valuation model, which blends trailing P/E, forward P/E, and analyst targets, puts fair value at $227.15 with a Hold rating, almost exactly Thursday’s premarket price.
Second-quarter revenue reached $1.07 billion, up 165.5%, and non-GAAP EPS of $0.78 beat the $0.41 estimate. The current price already reflects those results. Shares trade at 322 times trailing earnings and 57 times forward estimates. Against the midpoint of 2026 non-GAAP EPS guidance ($2.55 to $2.85), the forward multiple is approximately 84x.
Volatility Comes Before the Thesis
Over the past 52 weeks, the stock has traded as high as $351.28 and as low as $75.70. It is now below its 50-day moving average of $247.61. For investors at or near retirement, a stock this volatile raises a position-sizing question that should be addressed before any investment thesis question. Even the chief executive admitted uncertainty about AI spending: “I do not know for sure, and I will not insult you by pretending to.”
Oct. 22 Results Must Show the Order Flow
Bloom has confirmed it will report third-quarter results on Oct. 22. It has beaten estimates for five consecutive quarters and raised 2026 revenue guidance twice, to a range of $3.9 billion to $4.2 billion. Today’s price demands more than a sixth beat. The report needs to show new bookings and backlog growth beyond the approximately $6 billion product backlog reported at year-end, the very large order flow Roth Capital says is already priced in.
What Oct. 22 Must Prove at This Price
At about 84 times guided earnings, with Hold ratings outnumbering every other call, and a beta near 3.8, the share price already reflects much of Bloom’s growth story. The Oct. 22 results will show whether order flow supports that valuation.
