Cathie Wood Just Sold $111 Million of AMD–and Loaded Up on Nvidia

ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK, Financials), Cathie Wood’s flagship actively managed fund, reshuffled its technology exposure during the week ended Oct. 2, making Nvidia one of its largest purchases while sharply reducing AMD.
Across its funds, ARK bought 356,681 Nvidia shares valued at about $81 million. It also added 76,263 Broadcom shares worth $13.1 million and increased its CoreWeave position by $7.3 million.
The more striking move came on the other side of the semiconductor trade. ARK sold 181,767 AMD shares worth $111.1 million, making it by far the largest reduction disclosed for the week.
That combination suggests ARK was changing the composition of its semiconductor exposure rather than making a broad retreat from AI infrastructure.
Wood also continued adding risk elsewhere. ARK purchased $29.7 million of Intellia Therapeutics, $20.8 million of BWX Technologies and $12.5 million of Tesla. Smaller purchases included Airbnb, Amazon, Cerebras Systems and Rocket Lab.
Meanwhile, the funds reduced 10x Genomics by $9.7 million and Tempus AI by $6.2 million, alongside smaller sales of Alphabet and Palantir.
The next signal for investors will be whether ARK continues accumulating Nvidia while reducing AMD, which would make the semiconductor rotation look more deliberate than a one-week portfolio adjustment.
