Cathie Wood Makes $64 Million Bet on Two Stocks
This article first appeared on GuruFocus.
Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest made a fresh round of high-conviction bets last week, adding heavily to Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) and Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB) while cutting exposure to several technology and biotechnology names.
The biggest purchase was Meta. Ark bought more than 51,000 shares worth about $38.2 million, making the social-media giant its largest disclosed addition for the week.
Ark also bought roughly 360,000 Rocket Lab shares valued at about $25.9 million, reinforcing its exposure to the space sector.
The buying extended beyond technology. Ark added about $8.4 million of Scribe Therapeutics, $4.5 million of Ionis Pharmaceuticals, $4.6 million of Veracyte and $4.3 million of Beam Therapeutics.
The funds also purchased about $4.6 million of Airbnb and made a smaller addition to the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF.
The selling side was more diversified.
Ark’s largest reduction was approximately $9.9 million of Everpure. The firm also sold about $7.16 million of CrowdStrike and $5.77 million of Alphabet, reducing exposure to cybersecurity and large-cap technology.
In biotech and genomics, Ark cut roughly $7.7 million of Tempus AI, $6.64 million of 10x Genomics and $5.78 million of Twist Bioscience. The funds also reduced their position in the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF.
Investor Takeaway
The most notable signal is the contrast between Ark’s aggressive buying of Meta and Rocket Lab and its simultaneous trimming of several other high-growth holdings.
The trades suggest Ark is reallocating rather than simply adding broad risk exposure.
Meta brings scale, cash flow and AI investment, while Rocket Lab offers much higher-risk exposure to commercial space and launch growth.
For investors tracking Wood’s strategy, the key question is whether these purchases represent short-term opportunistic buying or a broader shift toward a smaller group of conviction names.
Future Ark disclosures will show whether the Meta and Rocket Lab additions continue, which would make the positioning change more meaningful.
