Iran has offered to reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz and resume nuclear negotiations with the US within seven days, provided Washington agrees to its conditions, according to CNBC.

The proposal comes amid escalating tensions across the Middle East, with the Houthis launching missiles and drones at Saudi Arabia and shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz falling to just nine vessel transits.

The diplomatic initiative comes as US President Donald Trump holds talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, while Beijing seeks to help ease the nearly seven-month-long conflict between the US and Iran.

“If certain conditions are met, the Strait of Hormuz will be open at the end of seven days, and talks will be restarted,” Araghchi told reporters on the sidelines of the General Assembly, according to CNBC.
