Energy Sector Revved Up While Stocks Stall
Much of the market wasn’t going anywhere on Thursday, but energy stocks were an exception.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was flat in Thursday afternoon trading. The S&P 500 was up 0.1%. The Nasdaq Composite was down 0.1%.
Energy was the S&P 500’s top sector, with WTI crude oil futures up 1.9% to $82.92 a barrel. The Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF was up 1%.
The Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund was up 0.4%. The tech sector was the biggest laggard, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF down 0.3%.
