Investing.com AI index: Italy tops global AI investing activity as U.S. ranks 19th
New Investing.com analysis finds some of the strongest engagement with AI-powered investment research outside the world’s largest financial markets
Italy has emerged as the world’s leading country for AI-related investing activity, ahead of Poland and Israel, while the United States ranks just 19th, according to new data from Investing.com.
Italy topped the Investing.com AI Investing Index 2026, which examined 12 months of anonymized, aggregated user activity across 66 countries. Poland ranked second and Israel third, followed by Chile and Argentina.
Spain, Turkey, Mexico, Portugal and Greece completed the top 10, highlighting the strong showing of European and Latin American markets.
The index measures two forms of activity: interactions with WarrenAI, Investing.com’s AI-powered investment research assistant, and engagement with AI-focused stock content. Both measures were adjusted for audience size in each country to allow comparisons between markets of different sizes.
Italy’s first-place ranking was driven by strong activity across both measures. Italian users recorded approximately 1,652 WarrenAI interactions per 1,000 users, alongside 42.44 AI-focused stock page views per 1,000 users, the highest rate among qualifying countries.
Poland recorded the highest rate of AI-assisted research activity, with approximately 1,897 WarrenAI interactions per 1,000 users, but Italy’s stronger engagement with AI-focused stocks secured its overall lead.
“The most interesting aspect is that the top of this ranking does not follow the traditional map of the financial industry,” said Thomas Monteiro, Senior Analyst at Investing.com.
“Research tools have historically reached the largest markets first and everyone else later. However, what we’re seeing here is fundamentally different.”
AI investing activity extends beyond traditional financial centers
The findings reveal a different geographic pattern from what might be expected based on the size of national economies or financial markets.
Latin America performed particularly strongly, with Chile ranking fourth, Argentina fifth and Mexico eighth. Colombia placed 12th and Peru 17th, while Brazil ranked 23rd.
Several major financial markets were also absent from the top 10. Germany ranked 13th, South Korea 18th, the United States 19th, the United Kingdom 25th and Japan 34th.
There were also notable differences in how investors engaged with AI across countries.
Japan, for example, recorded approximately 763 WarrenAI interactions per 1,000 users, exceeding both South Korea (664) and the United States (534). However, Japanese users registered just 0.94 AI-focused stock page views per 1,000 users, compared with 4.97 in South Korea and 7.79 in the United States.
The results suggest that strong engagement with AI-powered investment research does not necessarily translate into equally strong interest in AI-related stocks.
AI becomes a bigger part of investment research
The findings come as artificial intelligence becomes an increasingly common tool for retail investors.
A separate Investing.com survey conducted in March 2026 found that 62% of U.S. retail investors had used AI to inform an investment decision, with 55.1% expecting their use of the technology to increase.
The global index analyzed activity between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026, across countries with at least 50,000 unique Investing.com users. It measures AI-related investing engagement among Investing.com users rather than adoption across national populations.
