Judge Judy Plans New Creative Projects After Retirement from Onscreen Work

Judge Judy might be winding down her decades-long career on TV, but she has no plans to slow down when it comes to pursuing some of her foremost creative interests.

During a recent appearance on Good Morning America, Judy Sheindlin, best known as the famed media personality Judge Judy, confirmed her intention to retire from her onscreen work, although she was quick to add she isn’t retiring completely.

Above all else, Sheindlin said that she plans to continue pursuing other projects from a production and behind the scenes standpoint, including her son’s show Adam’s Law, led by judge Adam Levy.

“First of all, he’s ready,” Sheindlin started by saying, referencing Levy, who sat beside her. “And you know, I’ve aged pretty well over the years. Reasonably. I look better than my grandmother did at my age — which didn’t take a lot.”

“I’m still going to be creative,” the judge continued. “I’m going to take the message and put it in a little bit of a different form. I’m gonna become the Benjamin Button of court.”

The final episode of Judy Justice, Sheindlin’s follow-up to the wildly successful Judge Judy, will air on October 22.

With Judge Judy originally arriving back in 1996, Sheindlin has enjoyed an illustrious three-decade career on television. After Judge Judy concluded in 2021, she continued to reign over the TV courtrooms with Judy Justice.

Nowadays, Sheindlin and her series is credited with reviving interest in courtroom programming, kicking off a whole wave of TV series that followed in its wake.

Among her many prestigious honors, the series won three Emmy Awards, with Sheindlin gaining Guinness World Record recognition as the longest serving TV arbitrator in the medium’s history.

As further evidence of its popularity, the show has also been referenced and parodied in everything from Curb Your Enthusiasm to CHiPs ’99, among others.
