September is almost here, which means Supplemental Security Income recipients will soon receive their monthly benefits.

Social Security recipients will get their regular payments as scheduled in September. Benefits are typically disbursed to nearly 74 million people on specific Wednesdays, depending on the person’s birth date.

SSI payments, however, sometimes arrive early. That happens when the first of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, shifting checks to the last weekday before the usual send date.

Here is the September payment schedule for Tennessee.

When are Supplemental Security Income, Social Security payments being sent out in August?

Here’s the full payment schedule for Social Security and SSI recipients:

• Sept. 1: SSI payments.

• Sept. 9: for Social Security beneficiaries with birth dates between the 1st and 10th.

• Sept. 16: for Social Security beneficiaries with birth dates between the 11th and 20th.

• Sept. 23: for Social Security beneficiaries with birth dates between the 21st and 31st.

When will SSI checks be sent early in 2026?

SSI checks will be sent out early for November because the first falls on a weekend.

And the first check of the new year is always sent on New Year’s Eve because of the holiday conflict.

What should I do if I don’t get my Social Security payment?

According to the SSA, if you don’t receive your payment on the scheduled date, wait three additional days, then call the Social Security office.

When will the 2027 Social Security COLA be announced?

The Social Security Administration is expected to announce the 2027 cost-of-living adjustment on Oct. 14.

The historical average is 2.6%, Mary Johnson, an independent Social Security and Medicare analyst, told USA TODAY.

The current estimate is 3.4%, but that could shift based on changes to the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers, or CPI-W.
