Some PA Social Security recipients get 2 payments in July, none in August
Social Security payments may look a little different this month.
If you receive Supplemental Security Income from the Social Security Administration, you may notice two payments arriving in July. But that also means SSI recipients won’t receive a payment in August this year.
Here’s what to know about upcoming Social Security and SSI payment dates.
Why is Social Security Income sending out two payments in July 2026?
Recipients will receive two SSI payments in July, but the second isn’t extra money, it’s August’s benefit arriving early.

It’s because the August SSI payment is being sent early on July 31 since Aug. 1 falls on a Saturday. The early payment means SSI recipients won’t get another check until Sept. 1.
The multiple payments are due to a calendar quirk, which means the normal August SSI payment is moved backward into July because Aug. 1 falls on a Saturday, and SSI can’t be paid on weekends. SSI payments typically arrive on the first of each month unless it’s a federal holiday or a weekend.
What’s the difference between SSI and regular Social Security benefits?
Though both programs are run by the Social Security Administration, they serve different purposes. Social Security benefits are earned through work, while SSI helps people with limited income and resources.
Will there be an SSI payment in August?
No. The Aug. 1 benefit is being sent early on July 31 because Aug. 1 falls on a Saturday.
Who gets a Social Security payment July 22?
Recipients born on any day from the 21st through the 31th day of the month will receive their monthly benefit on July 22, according to the SSA’s payment calendar. Those born on the 11th through the 20th day of any month were scheduled to receive their monthly Social Security benefit on July 15.
When does Social Security send payments?
Most Social Security recipients receive benefits on Wednesdays, with payment dates determined by their birth date.
