The Dow Climbs 300-Plus Points. A Pullback in Bond Yields Fuel the Late Surge.
The Dow jumped more than 300 points with just a little more than an hour left in the trading day. A pullback in bond yields fueled the surge.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 321 points, or 0.8%. The S&P 500 was up 1.3%. The Nasdaq Composite was up 1.6%.
The 2-year Treasury yield was down to 4.94%. The 10-year yield was down to 4.593%.The CBOE Volatility Index was down 5.2% to 16.06.
Only six members of the Dow were falling: Walmart, Boeing, UnitedHealth Group, Dow, Salesforce, and Travelers. Intel was flat.
For the S&P 500, only 67 of the index’s members were falling.
The Russell 2000 was leading the big three with a gain of 1.9%.
