The Social Security Admin is making payments on Tuesday, September 1: who receives benefits tomorrow?
This Tuesday, several million benefits recipients are scheduled to get their next payment from the U.S.’s Social Security Administration (SSA).
Who is paid by the Social Security Admin on Tuesday, September 1?
Beneficiaries of the Supplemental Security Income program (SSI) are due to receive their monthly money for September 2026.
Each month, SSI is distributed on the first, unless – as was the case in August – that date is a non-working day.
Who in the U.S. is eligible for SSI?
A needs-based scheme with 7.3 million beneficiaries, SSI is for low-income, low-resource individuals who are over the age of 65 or have a disability.
Unlike the SSA’s Social Security program – which pays out retirement, disability and survivor benefits to 71.3 million people in the U.S. – eligibility for SSI does not depend on claimants’ work record.
