Tips on taxes, things you should know before April 15
WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF — For those still working on their taxes, the due date, April 15, is quickly approaching.
Shawn Rohrig, President of Rohrig Financial, says if you are having trouble filing or just have a few questions he recommends you speak with an accountant or CPA to make sure everything is in order.
He says it’s what they’re here for.
If you think you are unable to meet the deadline, Rohrig says there is still an opportunity to get things done by getting an extension.
Doing an extension is important, you still have to pay what you believe you’re going to owe, but it will give you a little bit of time to make sure those numbers are correct. So maybe you have to file an extension, the goal is not to file one but make sure that you do that. If you do need to do an extension, make sure to talk to a professional about that.

Rohrig says if you haven’t already, get your 1099 forms in order and see if you need to add any money to your IRA or 401k. Again, consult a professional if you have any concerns.
