Todays Market Movers: Intel, AMD, Strategy, Meta, Warner Bros and More Stocks on the Move
TLDR
- Intel rose more than 5% as semiconductor and AI stocks moved higher ahead of the U.S. market open.
- AMD, Micron and Marvell gained around 2%, while Nvidia advanced about 0.8%.
- Strategy jumped about 7.5% as Bitcoin rebounded toward $85,000, while Coinbase and Robinhood also climbed.
- Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Skydance rose on reports of possible concessions aimed at resolving a lawsuit over their proposed merger.
- Novo Nordisk dropped after presenting its longer-term growth targets.
U.S. stocks were set for a stronger start Monday as falling oil prices and improving U.S.-China trade sentiment supported technology, artificial intelligence and crypto-related shares.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng agreed to continue discussions around artificial intelligence ahead of this week’s meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping.
Several individual stocks posted larger moves before the opening bell.
Intel, AMD and Nvidia Rise With AI Stocks
Intel climbed more than 5%, making it one of Monday’s strongest large-cap technology movers.
Super Micro Computer gained around 3% as investors returned to companies tied to AI servers and computing infrastructure.
Advanced Micro Devices rose about 2.7%, while Micron Technology and Marvell Technology were also trading around 2% higher.
Nvidia gained about 0.8%.
The moves came as semiconductor stocks benefited from renewed interest in AI-related companies following the latest U.S.-China discussions.
Meta Platforms was also higher, rising around 2.7%.
Investor attention remains on the company’s recently launched Muse personal AI agent, which has gained early traction after reaching the top of Apple’s U.S. App Store.
Alphabet shares were around 1.3% higher.
Strategy and Coinbase Jump as Bitcoin Rebounds
Crypto-related stocks were among Monday’s strongest movers as Bitcoin extended its recovery.
Bitcoin was trading just below $85,000 after gaining more than 5% over the previous 24 hours.
Strategy rose about 7.5%.
The company remains heavily exposed to Bitcoin through its large cryptocurrency holdings, making its shares sensitive to moves in the digital asset.
Coinbase Global gained around 5%, while Robinhood Markets climbed roughly 4%.
The rebound followed last week’s failed Senate vote on the CLARITY Act, which had initially pressured cryptocurrency markets.
Warner Bros and Paramount Rise on Merger Talks
Warner Bros. Discovery jumped between 7% and 8%.
Paramount Skydance gained around 6%.
The moves followed reports that Paramount and California Attorney General officials were discussing possible concessions that could help resolve a lawsuit seeking to block Paramount’s proposed $81 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.
Potential concessions reportedly include a $1.5 billion investment in California film and television production.
Other proposals could include commitments to retain studio facilities in California and minimum annual film production levels.
The lawsuit remains an important hurdle for the proposed transaction.
Accenture gained around 6% after announcing an AI safety partnership with Anthropic.
The two companies expect to invest at least $1 billion each over five years, with Accenture building a dedicated team to work on AI testing, security and model evaluation.
Novo Nordisk moved in the opposite direction, falling around 7% after presenting its growth plans through 2030.
The company outlined new obesity-drug targets and plans for several late-stage programs, while investors continued to weigh growing competition and the future loss of U.S. patent protection for semaglutide.
Monday’s early moves leave AI stocks, crypto-linked companies and merger-related names among the main areas of focus as Wall Street begins the new week.
