Sami Zayn Opens Up About Retirement Plans And Life After Wrestling
Sami Zayn has no specific retirement age in mind and remains uncertain about what he wants to do after his wrestling career ends. The Undisputed WWE Champion discussed his future on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast. Zayn admitted that wrestling has been such a massive part of his life that stepping away might prove difficult.
When asked whether he had a retirement age in mind, Zayn said he hadn’t figured out either the timing or what would come next. Sami Zayn stated:
“Not only do I not know the answer to that. The other thing that I think about a lot is I don’t really know what I want to do when I’m done, because there are times I’m like, you know what sounds so nice?”
Sami Zayn explained that part of him would enjoy a quieter lifestyle after years in the wrestling business. He mentioned spending more time outdoors, tending to a garden, and disconnecting from his phone. However, he also acknowledged that he might struggle to leave wrestling behind completely. Zayn continued:
“Just taking care of a garden, just like really slowing down the pace of life and kicking my iPhone into a lake and just really slowing down and living the way humans are meant to live. But also the problem is, it’s in my blood. This has been my life. So after a month, I might start climbing the walls, and it’s like, no, I need to be behind the wheel. I need to be doing three-hour drives. I need to be getting on planes, maybe I need to be performing in some capacity because it’s what I’ve done.”
He is currently in his second reign as Undisputed WWE Champion. He is scheduled to defend the championship against Trick Williams on the October 30 episode of SmackDown. The winner would face World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel on November 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the Men’s Crown Jewel Championship.
