In the U.S., some Social Security beneficiaries are to get their latest monthly money next week, as the Social Security Administration (SSA) completes its three-Wednesdays payment cycle for August 2026.
Who gets Social Security on Wednesday, August 26?
Of the more than 71.3 million recipients of Social Security benefits nationwide, many are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month, depending on their birthday. August 26 is this month’s fourth Wednesday, so payments are to be sent out to recipients born between the 21st and the 31st of any month.

What other Social Security payment runs are there in August 2026?
- August 3: Benefits sent to some long-term recipients
Individuals who have been on Social Security benefits since before May 1997 were paid on Monday 3 August, irrespective of their date of birth.
- August 3: Benefits sent to recipients also on SSI
Monday 3 was also this month’s Social Security payment date for beneficiaries who combine the scheme with Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a benefit for certain low-income people. August’s SSI was paid on Friday, July 31.
SSI is typically issued on the first of each month, but was distributed 24 hours ahead of its usual schedule because August 1 was a non-business day.

Social Security beneficiaries can provide the SSA with their bank-account information by logging on to the agency’s online my Social Security portal.
- Direct Express
Money can be loaded onto the Direct Express Card, a special debit card for recipients who do not have a bank account. Sign up at 1-800-333-1795 or 1-800-772-1213, or at a Social Security office.
